Since 1989, the small territory of Gibraltar has been known for its offshore gambling business. It all started with one company and now more than 15 online casino gambling corporations are based in the self-governing territory.

The companies that operate in Gibraltar employ more than 1800 people and many of them are listed on the London Stock Market. “Gibraltar is a minute speck on the globe. But when it comes to online gambling it is probably the most important jurisdiction in the world”, Freddie Ballester, Representative of Gibraltar’s Gaming Association, explained.

According to a recent survey, almost 75 percent of online gambling workers have moved from other countries to Gibraltar specifically to find jobs in the gambling industry.
