According to recent reports, Anschutz Entertainment Group LLC, has started the construction of a 150,000 square-foot casino at the London’s Millennium Dome, even though it has not obtained a license from the British government yet.
The company, owned by Denver billionaire Phil Anschutz, has announced that if it does not obtain a license, it will downsize the dome, eliminating two hotels, a theater and an exhibition area.
The granting of a license for the proposed casino has been a controversial issue during the past few months. The British Parliament and Scotland Yard are investigating a series of meetings between Anschutz and Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, concerning the redevelopment of the Millennium Dome.
